In Short - Ron raced karts and motorcycles before beginning his stock car career, driving at Saugus Speedway near Los Angeles, Ca. He won championships at the 1/3-mile asphalt oval. Ron's father, Ron Hornaday Sr., is a two-time NASCAR Winston West Series Champion.

NASCAR CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

2007 For the third year, Ron piloted the Kevin Harvick Inc. NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series entry. Hornaday drove the KHI #33   Camping World Chevrolet to his 3rd Championship in the Craftsman Truck Series.
2006 For the second year, Ron will pilot the Kevin Harvick Inc. NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series entry.  Hornaday drove the KHI #33 with AES coming on board the Truck Series entry, and Hornaday also competed in 13 Busch Series races in the KHI, Outdoor Channel #33 Chevrolet.
2005 Hired by Kevin Harvick to drive the Kevin Harvick Inc. GM Goodwrench #6 NASCAR Craftsman Truck.  Hornaday, still a record holder in the series, makes his return with a full season since 1999. Voted "Most Popular Driver" in the Craftsman Truck Series.
2003/2004 Hired by Richard Childress Racing to pilot the No. 2 ACDelco Chevrolet in the NASCAR Busch Series (NBS). He finished 3rd in points, with 1 win during the 2003 season and 1 in 2004.
   
2002 Posted five Top-5 finishes and finished 17th in NASCAR Busch Series points for the Carroll Racing No.26 Chevrolet after joining the team near mid-season. Claimed the first pole for the team at Charlotte in October. Won the season ending NASCAR Truck Series race at Homestead, in only his second start of the season, expanding his record amount of wins in that series to 26.
2001 Drove the No.14 A.J. Foyt Pontiac in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. Also raced 12 races for Curb-Agajanian Racing in NBS where he recorded seven Top-20 finishes.
2000 Named Most Popular driver in the NASCAR Busch Series and finished fifth in points driving the No.3 Dale Earnhardt, Inc. Chevrolet. Won NBS races at Nazareth, PA and Indianapolis, IN.
1999 Finished seventh in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series standings in the No.16 DEI Chevy Silverado. Ended his full time Truck campaign with 25 wins, 64 Top-5, 90 Top-10, and 12 poles in just 121 races. His 25 wins and 20 percent victory/start ratio are still NCTS records.
1998 Captured his second NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship for Dale Earnhardt, Inc. Set a NCTS record for most winnings in a season $915,407. Won the series 100th event and a $100,000 bonus, which he split with his crew.
1997 Named Most Popular Driver in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Finished fifth in final points standings.
1996 Won his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship.
1995 Finished fifth in points during the inaugural NASCAR Truck Series season. First driver signed at Dale Earnhardt, Inc. after Earnhardt watched Hornaday dominate the NASCAR Winter Heat television series on ESPN.

I drive every lap of the track in my sleep the night before a race and sometimes I watch the movie For the Love of the Game.

The tracks I win at, of course!  I like different things about different tracks.
How he unwinds after a race:
I sit down and discuss the race with my wife Lindy.  I also like to watch the replay of the race.  When I get home, I like to get out and mow the lawn.  It helps me unwind from a busy weekend.

To be successful in the Winston Cup Series
People may be surprised to know that:
I have three granddaughters and a grandson
The most misunderstood part of racing:
Our emotions run high and close to the surface during the heat of battle and sometimes what a driver says can be misunderstood or misinterpreted.
Most embarrassing moment:
We drove to a race a day early and had to sit in the truck all day in freezing weather because we read the calendar wrong.

I’d be building racecars at my previous business Victory Circle Race Cars.
