Hornaday
Riding Wave of Momentum into Kentucky:
Coming off their third win of the season, Ron Hornaday and the Kevin Harvick
Inc. (KHI) No. 33 Camping World Chevrolet Silverado team is looking to become
the first repeat winner in the nine-year history of the NASCAR Truck Series’
race at the Kentucky Speedway. Hornaday and team won for the first time at
Kentucky in 2006. Hornaday will also be looking to win two consecutive races for
the fourth time in his career, a feat he accomplished twice in 1997 and once in
1999. Coming into this year’s race, Hornaday has recorded one win (2006), one
top-five and two top-10 finishes at the Kentucky Speedway.
Back On Top:
Ron Hornaday is again atop the NASCAR Truck Series point standings, leading Matt
Crafton by 45 points. This marks the third time of the 2008 season that he has
taken the points lead. Coincidently, each time he has taken the points lead it
is with a victory.
Chassis No.
024 to Make Fifth Start of 2008:
Chassis 024 will be making its fifth start of the 2008 NASCAR Truck Series
season for KHI at Kentucky Speedway. Hornaday piloted this truck at Kansas
Speedway, Lowe’s (N.C.) Motor Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and Michigan
International Speedway. The truck has been to victory lane in two (Kansas and
Texas) of the four races that it has competed in and is a favorite of the driver
and crew chief. “We don’t have a bad truck in the stable at all, but 24 is our
best truck,” said crew chief Rick Ren.
Camping
World Calls the Bluegrass State “Home”:
Camping World, primary sponsor of KHI’s No. 33 NASCAR Truck Series and No. 33
NASCAR Nationwide Series entries, is headquartered in Bowling Green, Kentucky,
located approximately 170 miles Southwest of Kentucky Speedway. Since the first
store opened in Bowling Green in 1966, Camping World has grown and now serves RV
and outdoor enthusiasts with more than 130 retail locations from coast to coast.
From The
Driver’s Seat – Quotes From Ron Hornaday:
On racing at Kentucky:
“Kentucky is another one of
those 1.5-mile tracks and with the way our program has been this year, we have a
chance to be really good. It is a fast race track with two racing grooves. We
won this race in 2006 and I would like to win there again, especially since
nobody else has won there twice. Mark Smith (engine builder) has been giving us
really good engines and it makes it so much fun for me to drive these trucks.
Rick Ren (crew chief) and the guys on the Camping World team will be working
really hard to get the truck where it needs to be and I just have to go out
there and do my part.”
Atop The Pit
Box – Quotes From Rick Ren:
On racing at Kentucky:
“Kentucky is all about being
able to negotiate turn three. The driver that can get into turn three and then
get back to the gas is going to win the race. Besides that, you just need to run
the bottom of the track. Our program has really stepped up this year as far as
the 1.5-mile tracks are concerned. We’ve really had some great runs this year at
the 1.5-mile tracks. We won at Kansas and Texas and ran very well at Lowe’s and
Atlanta. There is no doubt in my mind that we will have one of the trucks to
beat at Kentucky.”
