Nov. 12, 2001 - The 2000 NASCAR Busch Series Most Popular Driver stepped back in the series 4 months into the 2001 season, to drive the Highline Performance Group, #11 Channellock Chevrolet.  "I'm looking forward to being a part of the Channellock team," said Hornaday. Ron only ran 10 races for the Highline team, before owner / driver problems became to much for both.

Being a veteran Busch Series driver, Ron was approached by Curb-Agajanian Motorsports to drive the  #43 Morton Salt / Quality Farm Stores, Chevrolet. "I have to thank Curb-Agajanian Motorsports for this opportunity. Running both series is a real plus" said Hornaday. With only a few races left in the season, one can only feel this venture is something that we might watch for in the 2002 Busch Series season.

2001 has been an up and down year for Hornaday. The death of former employer and friend Dale Earnhardt was the first of many losses for the Hornaday family.  Ron's mother, Helen Hornaday past-a-way in May, just days after spending time with her son and family at California speedway. "My family and myself would like to say
Thank-you so very much for all of your nice wishes for our mother. She passed away
Saturday morning from heart failure. We will miss her so much but we know in our
hearts that  she is in a better place now, with God and all of her angels that she
loved  so much.  Again, Thank-you to all, Ron and the entire Hornaday Family

One tough year, one tough man !  Ron Hornaday stood strong through the families tragedies, and was ready for some-thing new and bright. "My Daughter Candice is going to have me a grandson" stated Ron. "You know I have two granddaughters, but no grandson".  Candice came through for her mother and father, with the delivery of Slater Ryan McCray, on October 3rd - 8:01 PM - 7 lbs. 6 oz.  19 inches. A contest was held, to see who could come closest to the date and time of birth of lil' Slater. Eric Pushard of Las Vegas Nevada, was the first to submit a guess and it was the winning date and time. - "Thanks for playing along. This is great, I told Lindy to get out and shop for her Granddaughters now, cause I have a Grandson and now it's Pappy's turn to do the spoiling. To start, I think I will go order his new Go-Cart" ! - Ron

Watch for Hornaday 2002 !  The chisels have yet to carve stone, but I believe you will see a great season for Ron in both Busch and Winston Cup competition.

Homestead-Miami Speedway is a 1.5-mile oval track with six-degree banking in the turns and four-degree banking on the straightaways. The length of the frontstretch and backstretch is 1,760 feet. The first NASCAR Busch Series event at Homestead-Miami Speedway in 1995 was a sellout event and the GNC Live Well 300 has been a part of the series schedule since then.
