Hornaday and the No. 2 ACDelco Chevrolet head to
Kentucky Speedway looking to get the ACDelco
Chevrolet Monte Carlo back into victory lane. The
2001 inaugural race at Kentucky Speedway for the
NASCAR Busch Series saw the No. 2 ACDelco Chevy of
Kevin Harvick win the race from an 11th starting
position. And that is where Hornaday plans to put
his 2003 ACDelco ride as well.
During its initial
seasons, the NASCAR Truck Series used to stop a
race at halfway and allow the teams a 15-minute
break to work on the trucks. This “halftime”
allowed Hornaday to dominate many races from start
to finish. However, when it comes to racing at
Kentucky Speedway, Hornaday hopes there is no
halfway ‘break’. Last year, while running in the
top-five, Hornaday lost the engine on his Carroll
Racing Chevrolet a little over halfway through on
lap 103 of 200. He finished 37th.
Ron Hornaday and
the ACDelco team hope to rebound this weekend
after a disappointing run at Nashville
Superspeedway last weekend. Hornaday finished in
16th position, five laps down, after a lap 10
crash with Brian Vickers. Despite having to just
make laps off the pace during the event, Hornaday
was able to capitalize on other driver’s
misfortunes to move up one position in the
championship points chase. The ACDelco Chevrolet
Monte Carlo sits in the fourth position in
driver’s points, just 144 markers out of first.

How does
Kentucky Speedway compare to other tracks on the
NASCAR Busch Series schedule?
“ I really like
this track. But even though it looks similar to
some of the other tracks we go to, it is
completely different. It is very fast and really
smooth. If your car is hooked up, then you can
pass just about anywhere. The key is to get the
car to handle all the way through the corners,
because you are in them for a long time. I really
think we have a great shot at winning in the
ACDelco Chevrolet.
“I would be very
surprised if this track does not make it on to the
NASCAR Winston Cup schedule sometime soon. They
really did their homework in building this track
and I think it would make for great racing.”

the NASCAR Busch Series point’s standings.
