1.5-mile track in the No.
26 Carroll Racing
Chevrolet. Hornaday
started the race 14th
and finished fifth. But
it was the ACDelco team’s
great call on pit road
that put Sauter in the
position to get his first
NBS win. The No. 2
ACDelco Chevrolet Monte
Carlo will try to make it
two-for-two in Chicago on
Saturday, July 12 at 1:00
p.m.
My Old Kentucky…car?
The ACDelco Transporter
will unload chassis No.
006 at Chicagoland
Speedway. It is the
oldest car in the RCR NBS
stable. However, don’t
let the age of the car
fool you. It is the same
car that Hornaday drove to
a third place at Kentucky
Speedway one month ago.
During that race, Hornaday
led three different times
and never ran outside the
top-five.
It’s getting hot in
herrre
Nobody has been hotter
than Hornaday over the
last three races. With
three consecutive top-five
finishes, Hornaday has
clawed his way from 144
points out of the NBS
point’s lead to 33 points
coming into Chicago, IL.
That’s an average of 37
points per race! To top
it off, the next four
races have been good to
Hornaday in the past. He
has won at Loudon and
Pikes Peak in the NASCAR
Truck Series (NCTS), and
also has a NCTS and NBS
win at Indianapolis
Raceway Park.

This ACDelco team seems
to have really meshed
together. What has been
the biggest factor in your
recent success?
“I think the biggest thing
is that we all have really
gotten to know each other
away from the track.
After practice, the guys
have started coming by my
motorhome and just hanging
out. We talk a little
racing, but most of the
time we just laugh and
have a good time. I think
everyone, including
myself, has loosened up
and I think the trust
factor has increased.
It’s all about chemistry
when you are part of a
team and this team has
that now.”
The ACDelco Chevrolet
won at Chicagoland
Speedway last year and you
ran fifth. So what is the
key to racing up front?
“The big thing is having a
car that can run right on
the bottom and get forward
bite off the corners. If
you can run low and have
an awesome motor like RCR
has, you have a great
chance at getting to
victory lane.” |
