P o i n t s B a t t l e
- With a second-place finish
in the night race at Bristol
Motor Speedway, ACDelco
Chevrolet driver Ron
Hornaday has once again
climbed into the heat of the
NASCAR Busch Series
championship race. Hornaday,
a two-time NASCAR Southwest
Tour (1992, '93) and
NASCAR Truck Series
Champion ('96, '98), is
just 97 points out of first
position. In fact, the 135
points separating the
top-five make it the closest
NBS points battle with 10
races to go in the history
of the series.
Spring race recap - Back in
the spring, Hornaday and the
ACDelco Monte Carlo had a
great run at the "Lady in
Black" for most of the day,
until the car went away in
the late stages. Despite
having to start 15th because
rain washed out qualifying,
Hornaday made his way into
the top-five within 50 laps
and ran in second position
after the first pit stop.
However, the No. 2 car was
loose all day and Hornaday
eventually faded late in the
race to finish ninth.
What ya haulin? - The
ACDelco transporter will
unload chassis No.26. It is
the same car that Hornaday
raced to a second place
finish at Bristol Motor
Speedway last Friday night.
