Over 10 years, the Truck Series has seen its share of Winners, Champions, and Record Holders. Topping those lists is none other than the name, Ron Hornaday.
He’s been called, Mr. Milestone, after winning the 100th Truck Series event, and now his 31st victory, the series record, marks the 300th race of the series.
Of course it's a team effort, yet Hornaday also contributed some of the luck, to a young girl named, Tanner.
Hornaday stated; “I want to dedicate this race to little Tanner, a friend of the family who has been battling cancer for the past few years, Tanner this win is for you!" Tanner is an 8-year-old girl, originally from California, now living in, Nebraska, as she fights Ewing’s Sarcoma. Tanner holds a very large spot in Hornaday’s heart, as Tanner’s grandfather is one of Hornaday’s oldest friends. "Tanner, you brought us luck babe, I hope you are feeling better!"
Yes, Hornaday’s love for children is grand; grand enough… he has 4 grandchildren.
He has never lost touch living up to the name, “Master Of Restarts,” yet his win count has been far less than the Hornaday we know, who holds Two NCTS Championships, Two NCTS Most Popular Driver Awards, and yes, holds the record for most wins in the series.
"I owe everything to Rick Ren and all the guys on this Camping World Silverado. These guys have done an awesome job. I guess I just love the colors blue and yellow, because, since Camping World has come on board, things have gone our way.” Hornaday speaks of the colors blue and yellow, as he took two titles running those colors for DEI. “This is truly a team effort and I need to thank Rick Ren, Rick Carelli, Stacy Johnson, Danny Stockman, the shop guys, the crew, Kevin and DeLana, and Camping World for coming on board, this is awesome!”
Driver and Crew Chief both agree, 10 years ago, they could not have worked together, but both have matured in the sport, and both are looking forward to more races, and wins together.
