Ron Hornaday, Jr. Captures Sixth Top-Five of Season at Memphis, Gains in Points Chase

Millington, TN - Ron Hornaday, Jr., No. 33 Camping World Silverado, started second and finished third in the O'Reilly 200 at Memphis Motorsports Park, the sixth top-five including two wins for the two-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) champion.

Hornaday led twice on the night for a total of 56 laps in the 200-lap/150-mile race. The solid run by the Kevin Harvick, Inc. Team Chevy driver puts him just 103 points behind the leader.
"It was just one of those days. We had a 40-lap truck. After 40-laps it was a handful, we just wore the tires down. All-in-all it was an eventful night with Mike (Skinner). I don't know what it is, when these guys come down, when they are leading the race, they think they have to stop the pace so everybody bottles up and then go.  It happened with the No. 9, I had a jump on the No. 9 on the original start but the guy on the outside can't jump the guy on the inside so I had to stop and let him go first. That put us behind. We raced Mike real hard.  Just good hard racing, that is what Memphis does.

"There on the last restart, we had a truck with 40-lap tires that was it so we settled for third There was really no duel there really with Jack (Sprague). My truck was just wore out a little more than Jack's was. He had a little bit more than I did. I just didn't adjust my brakes right and I locked them up going in to one, he got right to my bumper and I just had to let him go.  Jack needed a good run, we needed a good points day. And, Jack is getting married this week and I feel sorry for him," (Laughs).

"But we got out there and led some laps, we did everything we could do. Rick Ren (crew chief) and my guys are so good, they brought a great truck. We had a little problem on pit road. Man I love this trophy here at Memphis, I really wanted to bring it home. I really wanted that trophy here at Memphis, but we did what we needed to do, which was bring home another top-five. I just want to thank Camping World, Chevrolet and Kevin and DeLana (Harvick). We just need to keep doing what we need to do every week."
