Hornaday Top 10, in Kansas
|
Ron Hornaday, Jr., No. 33 AES HR Solutions Silverado, easily had a top-three truck today in the O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 at Kansas Speedway and ran that way the first one-third of the 167-lap race. But a pit road speeding pass-through penalty put him a lap down to the leaders he has just been battling. Several long green-flag runs made it difficult for the two-time champion to regain the spots he lost. Once the Hornaday got back on the lead lap and restarted in 13th position with approximately 60 laps remaining, he made up ground as one of the fastest trucks on the track. When the checkered flew, Hornaday was in sixth position.
Matt Crafton, No. 88 Menards Silverado, finished 10th followed by Brendan Gaughan, No. 77 South Point Hotel Silverado in 11th.
"Our Silverado was fast all day. We really did have a top-three truck, but when we got the speeding penalty, and then so many long green flag runs, it was tough to make up ground. But we were able to get back to sixth. I am disappointed for my crew because they gave me a good truck, we were fast. But we were able to recover and get a decent finish and a good points day.
"In this series, the closer you get to the front, just because you can catch somebody doesn't always mean you can pass them easily. You have to fight for every position."
(Ron Hornaday, Jr., No. 33 AES HR Solutions Silverado, was fourth in the first and only practice at Kansas)
