Hornaday, #32
WINFUEL Team Battle to 14th Place Finish at IRP
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (August 7,
2005) – Throughout his career, Ron Hornaday has experienced a
lot of success at Indianapolis Raceway Park. Saturday night
that experience and tough driving style helped him battle his
way to a fourteenth place finish in the #32 Braun Racing /
WINFUEL Chevy.
“We thought the car was going
to be better than it was tonight,” Hornaday said. “I didn’t
expect for it to change so much during a run. The car would
start out way loose with fresh tires and fuel, and then by the
end of the run it would get tight from the middle off. We
battled those guys as best we could and ended up with a solid
fourteenth place finish, but we came here to win the race.”

When Ron
Hornaday stepped out of the ACDelco #2 Busch Series entry for
RCR at the end of 2004, Hornaday stated, "I will be running a few racings in the
NASCAR Busch Series in 2005," and he was right! In 2005,
Hornaday has spent time in the seat for Kevin Harvick Inc. and
SKI Motorsports, only to find himself in the seat of the Braun
Racing, WINFUEL #32.
Just before the
second and final practice session at Dover, NASCAR officials
informed team owner Todd Braun that driver Shane Hmiel had
been indefinitely suspended from NASCAR and he needed to find
a driver for the #32 WINFUEL Chevy. At that point, Braun
Racing turned to two-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck series
champion Ron Hornaday Jr. to finish out the weekend in Dover.
Since then, Hornaday has been in
the seat at Nashville and Milwaukee.
Hornaday
will join the Smith & Wesson/SKI
Motorsports
team again this season at California (Sept. 3) and Phoenix
(Nov. 12).
