Nov. 10th, 2002 - (Phoenix, Az) - Ron Hornaday has a winning history at Phoenix International Raceway, but this past weekend, Hornaday went Major League at PIR. Hornaday had 2002 World Series Champion Angels Pitcher Kevin Appier at PIR as his special guest.

"It's great having Kevin here this weekend.

He and I come from the Antelope Valley in Southern California. To have him out here at the races is just awesome !" stated Hornaday. "I can't say I am baseball's biggest fan, but this years World Series was hard not to be a part of.  Kevin sent me some great Angels gear including a Championship hat.  Heck, I even had one of those Rally Monkeys in my Dr Pepper car." Hornaday continued, "I want to thank Brian Golden for putting this all together, and Kevin for taking the time to come out to the track."

Both Hornaday and Appier were presented with invitations to the Silver Saddle Ranch in the Antelope Valley as a Home Coming Retreat during the off seasons of Baseball and NASCAR.

What does 2003 hold for these two ?  Well, Kevin plans on attending more events with Hornaday and having Hornaday attend a few games as his guest. "I would love to have Ron at some games next season." commented Appier. "I am just disappointed I didn't get to meet Dave Carroll and Todd Lohse from Dr Pepper Racing.  I really wanted to meet the crew, but plans just didn't work out."

After Homestead, Hornaday and his family will be taking a trip to Jamaica for the Air Jamaica Vacations NASCAR Beach Bash.  "My family and I don't get to take many vacations and for the past few years Beach Bash has been the perfect getaway, maybe after we get back from Jamaica we will head to the Silver Saddle Ranch and take a vacation from our vacation." commented Hornaday.
