Ron
Hornaday
sets
his
sights
on
Darlington,
which
is
nothing
new,
it's
just
with
a
different
view.
After
a
crash
at
Las
Vegas,
Ricky
Hendrick
had
to
step
aside
and
let
someone
else
step
in-to

Chevrolet,
Busch
Grand
National
Machine.
"I'm
just
filling
his
seat
until
he's
healthy
and
can
race
again."
commented
Hornaday,
"Ricky
is
a
good
kid
and
I
hated
to
see
this
happen
to
him."
Ron
is
no
stranger
to
Busch
Grand
National
racing.
In
2000
Ron
took
the
DEI
#
3
Chevrolet
to
victory
lane
twice,
and
5th
in
the
final
point
standings.
In
2001
Hornaday
ran
a
dozen
races
for
the
Highline
Performance
Group,
in
the
#11
Channellock
Chevrolet,
finishing
36th
in
final
points.
Hornaday
had
an
8th
place
finish
for
DEI
in
the
spring
race
of
2000
at
Darlington,
and
in
the
2001
fall
event,
Hornaday
placed
11th
in
the
Highline
ride.
"Darlington
is
a
tough
track,
but
it's
fast
and
it's
fun,"
stated
Hornaday.
"The
key
to
a
good
finish
at
this
track
is
a
good
starting
position.
There
is
not
much
time
at
Darlington
to
make
up
ground
if
you
don't
qualify
well.
The
only
advice
anyone
to
give
anyone
racing
there
is
to
race
the
racetrack,
not
the
other
drivers."
Qualifying
is
set
for
12:30
p.m.
et.
Friday,
March
15.
This
will
be
Hornaday's
first
attempt
at
qualifying
for
the
Hendrick
Motorsports
Busch
Series
program.
"I
couldn't
be
more
proud
to
drive
for
Hendrick
Motorsports,"
said
Hornaday.
"I
feel
like
I've
had
a
fair
amount
of
success
at
Darlington,
and
now
I'm
returning
in
the
very
best
equipment
and
with
a
great
Hendrick
Motorsports
team."
