March
23, 2002
(Bristol,
TN) -
Mechanical
failure
shortens the
day of Ron
Hornaday and
the G.M.A.C.
Chevrolet.
Hornaday
started the
Channellock
250 from the
11th
position, in
his second
run for
Hendrick
Motorsports,
in a car he
said was
"Awesome"
!

|
| Over
one-hundred-thousand
fans were on
hand at
Bristol
Motor
Speedway, to
see
"The
Brawl of The
Fenders",
for 250 laps
on the .533
mile oval.
The
day started
out great
for the #5
machine,
running up
front, and
avoiding the
havoc of
Bristol.
Hornaday had
moved up to
the 7th
position by
lap 40, but
at lap 43,
Hornaday
brought a
smoking
G.M.A.C.
Monte Carlo
into the
pits.
"These
Hendrick
guys gave me
a great
handling car
today.
Hornaday
said from
behind the
wall at
Bristol.
"Unfortunately
we lost the
transmission
on the
G.M.A.C.
Chevrolet."
Team
G.M.A.C.
went to work
and repaired
the
transmission
with-in 51
laps.
Hornaday was
back out on
the track
and avoided
several
wrecks on
the high
banked oval,
before
retiring the
Hendrick
Motorsports
Machine in
the 38th
position.
**
Watch for
Hornaday and
the
Hendrick's
#5 Chevrolet
at Texas
Motor
Speedway in
the O'Reilly
300 on April
6th.
