Hornaday Hopes For A Better Return To Texas
April 3, 2002 - Ron Hornaday and Team CLR headed to Texas for the Samsung/ RadioShack 500, this week-end at Texas Motor Speedway.

This will be the second attempt to qualify the CLR Ford Taurus for Hornaday. The first attempt at Atlanta found the team a few seconds shy of making the field.

The team has yet to start a race, lacking in Driver / Owner points for provisional starts, and released Derek Cope after they failed to qualify at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March.

Last year at Texas Motor Speedway Hornaday had qualified in the 20th position and was caught up in a multi-car accident on the fourth lap. "I love Texas"! commented Hornaday. "Last year was unfortunate, right now we have to focus on qualifying and getting this CLR Ford in the show".

The show is on a quad-oval set with 24 degrees of banking in the turns and is 1.5 miles in distance, with the new granite-based pavement that was installed after last year’s NASCAR weekend.
