Concord,
NC (June 25,
2002) Ron
Hornaday and
the No. 26
Dr Pepper
Chevrolet
team will
take on the
Milwaukee
Mile this
weekend for
the GNC Live
Well 300,
and the
competition
will need to
take heed.
Hornaday is
hungry for a
win, and if
given an
inch hešll
take the
Milwaukee
Mile.
"Just
knowing what
we are
capable of,
Išm
|
really
excited
about the
possibilities.
We
definitely
have
potential to
win this
weekend at
Milwaukee.
In the six
races
together as
a team our
performance
has been so
consistent
and the Dr.
Pepper
Chevrolet
has been
good on flat
tracks like
this, so it
should be
pretty
fun."
Last yearšs
race at the
Milwaukee
Mile
featured
Hornaday in
his first
2001 Busch
Series
start,
starting in
the 20th
position,
leading the
field and
eventually
finishing
8th.
Just six
events ago,
Hornaday was
without a
full time
ride in any
of the three
major NASCAR
touring
series.
Since then,
he has
notched a
full time
ride with
Carroll
Racingšs
No. 26 Dr
Pepper
Chevrolet
team.
He has 2
top-10
finishes and
is 25th in
points.
The points
chase in the
NASCAR Busch
Series is
always a
close one.
"Wešre
certainly
not in
contention
for the
Championship
this
year,"
said
Hornaday.
"Wešre
not giving
up on a
top-15 just
yet".
Hornaday and
the rest of
the No. 26
team hope to
make some
fireworks of
their own in
the points
battle this
weekend.
"Perseverance
pays
off,"
said
Hornaday.
"This
is a team
effort, and
wešre all
in it
together
good or bad.
We have some
pretty
strong
momentum
going right
now we just
really need
a win.
It would be
a huge pat
on the back
for this Dr
Pepper
team."
Bud Pole
qualifying
for the race
will take
place on
Saturday,
June 29,
2002 at
11:15 a.m.
EST.
The green
flag will
drop for the
GNC Live
Well 300 at
