Stellar
Performance
in
Milwaukee |
| Milwaukee,
WI
(June
30,
2002)
Ron
Hornaday
and
the
No.
26
Dr
Pepper
Chevrolet
team
notched
a
fourth
place
finish
this
weekend
in
the
GNC
Live
Well
250
at
the
Milwaukee
Mile.
In
Bud
Pole
qualifying
on
Saturday,
Hornaday
was
fifteenth
fast,
improving
on
earlier
practice
session
speeds
by
almost
four tenths
of
a
|
 |
second.
During
the
final
practice
session,
he
was
seventh
fastest
and
afterward
indicated
the
car
would
perform
up
to
par
for
the
event.
When
the
race
started,
Hornaday
reported
a
loose
condition
when
the
Dr
Pepper
car
was
turning
off
the
corner.
The
first
time
Hornaday
brought
the
No.
26
onto
pit
road
was
lap
50.
The
Dr
Pepper
Thirst
Crew
changed
four
tires,
taking
1
lbs
of
air
pressure
out
of
the
right
rear
tire,
and
adding
fuel.
On
lap
55,
Hornaday
radioed
to
the
crew
saying
he
was
loose
everywhere.
He
stayed
out
on
the
track
until
a
caution
on
lap
116
allowed
the
team
to
make
another
air
pressure
adjustment
to
the
right
rear
tire
and
change
four
tires.
The
Dr
Pepper
team
sent
Hornaday
back
out
onto
the
track
in
the
4th
position.
After
the
race
Hornaday
said,
"Iım
really
proud
of
this
Dr
Pepper
team.
We
just
got
tight
on
that
last
run
and
couldnıt
catch
the
top
three
guys.
The
guys
worked
hard
all
day
long
in
the
pits
and
really
got
this
car
handling
better.
We
were
pretty
loose
earlier
in
the
day.
I
think
we
got
pretty
lucky
a
couple
of
times.
This
was
a
great
finish
for
the
Dr
Pepper
Chevrolet
team.
We
needed
this
finish
and
hopefully
it
boosted
their
confidence."
