“Here we go again, another flat track. It doesn’t bother me a bit. I love NHIS. I always run well at New Hampshire. I won the first truck race here in ’96, and I can do it again.”
–Ron
Team Conseco will use chassis 1402 this weekend in the New England 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway. This is the same car that carried Ron Hornaday to his first Top 10 finish of the year at Las Vegas.
In 1996, Ron Hornaday proved that the most important lap to lead is the last lap. He did not even lead the whole lap. Barely a quarter of a lap when leader Jack Sprague and second place Joe Ruttman tangled in turns three and four, opening the door for Hornaday to take over the lead from third. Hornaday drove to victory lane having lead the final lap in the Craftsman Truck Series first visit to the “Magic Mile”.
