Hornaday Seeks a Rocky Mountain Season High
Denver, N.C. (July 25, 2002) This weekend the NASCAR Busch Series heads west to the mile long track nestled in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado for the Net Zero 250 at Pikes Peak International Raceway.

When Pikes Peak was discovered in 1806, the founder, Lt. Zebulon Montgomery Pike predicted no one would ever reach the summit.  Skeptics may have made the same type of prediction

about the No. 26 Dr Pepper Chevrolet team earlier this season. However, Ron Hornaday, currently 23rd in points, has been steadily gaining ground in driver points competition and is on his way into the top-20.  As he looks to the mountains this weekend, heıll be reminded of goals he set at the start of the 2002 season.  Both Hornaday and crew chief Todd Lohse share a common goal, to win.

"The first step to achieve success at anything is to set reasonable goals. When I first came on board with this Dr Pepper team in Loudon, N.H., we sat down and decided what we needed to do.  Weıve come to realize perseverance is the key," explained Hornaday.  "I work hard to help keep the teamıs morale high.  These guys put their hearts into the No. 26 car and Iıd love to give them a well deserved win."

There have been many peaks and valleys for the Dr Pepper Chevrolet team this
season, but they are getting closer to the top.  With four top five finishes
in 10 races, the team has high hopes to reach the summit theyıve set their
sights on victory lane.

As far as Ron Hornaday is concerned, everything is a team effort.  The stage is set and it is just a matter of time until the Dr Pepper Chevrolet team finally reaches their peak and Hornaday will take his place on top of the podium in the winnerıs circle.  When that moment arrives, it will be a well-earned achievement for the No. 26 team.

Bud pole qualifying for the Net Zero 250 will take place on Friday, July 26th at 3:00 p.m. PST.  The event will begin at 1:30 p.m. PST on Saturday, July 27th.  It will be broadcast live on TNT and MRN Radio.
