July 27th - Ron and the Team Conseco crew hit the track with a set of shocks on the #14 Pontiac that was not approved by ////NASCAR. The hard working AJ Foyt Racing / Team Conseco crew changed the 4 shocks and Ron took the car out, not knowing really what they had.

"My hats off to the guys at the Team Conseco shop. I have to complement this whole team, they have been working 24 hours a day, and we have a great car. To have to change the shocks, go out and make the race, it's a plus for the Team Conseco crew"

Ron will start 31st, after running a 53.965 sec. lap at 166.775 m.p.h. - Watch for the "Green Lightning" to head to the front in the Pennsylvania 500 at 1:pm on NBC.

“This is one of my favorite race cars. We ran this same car at the first Pocono race and wanted to bring it back for the second race. My hat is off to these guys at Team Conseco. They have been working their guts out to turn this thing around in just a few days. I walked into the shop and couldn’t believe it was the same car. These guys are amazing.” –Ron

For the second straight week Team Conseco will use chassis 1402 in the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway. This is the same car that carried Ron Hornaday to his first top-10 finish of the year at Las Vegas.

After last weekend’s “wall-walking” incident in Loudon, Team Conseco has been working in shifts around the clock to have this car ready to run this weekend in Pocono. The entire left side bodywork had to be replaced, as well as the rocker panel on the lower right side of the No. 14 Conseco Pontiac
