July 6th - Unfortunately Ron will not be running in the Pepsi 400 this Saturday night at Daytona. After a long rain delay Ron took the Team Conseco Pontiac around Daytona at 180.325 mph with a time of 49.91. The cut off time was 49.74, and Team Conseco has no provisional points.

Ron will head to the GNC Live Well 200 at Watkins Glen this weekend
with one thing in mind- victory lane.  The Channellock team is on the
threshold; it¹s just a matter of time before the Channellock Chevrolet  is
parked in the winner¹s circle. "We can help but hope that it will be sooner than later though" stated Ron. This will be Ron's second race with the Channellock Team

Notes & Quotes

“I’ve got a lot of mixed emotions about going back to Daytona.  As far as the race goes, we had a pretty good day in February.  Then we went to  Talladega and led the thing so, we’re pretty pleased with our restrictor-plate program and looking for an even better race this time around.  The rest of it is a private deal that we are all going to have to deal with when we get there.”   –Ron

Team Conseco will use chassis 1405 this weekend in the Pepsi 400 at Daytona International Speedway.  Since its last race at Talladega, this car has had the body changed to improve its ability to pull up in the draft.

This is the first track Hornaday will revisit in 2001.  In the Daytona 500, Hornaday sprinted from 42nd to the top 10 in only 12 laps, running as high as second before finishing 17th.  He had similar results at Talladega with the same car, coming from 42nd to the lead, finishing 22nd.
