25, - Ron and the Team Conseco Pontiac had
a 29th place finish after starting 3rd in Saturday
nights Sharpie 500. "Bristol's Brawl of the
fenders" cost Team Conseco more then just
fenders, it cost a hood, a radiator and 59 laps.
In what didn't seem
like that hard of a hit on the 84th lap, took it's
toll. Ron and the crew had the AJ Foyt Racing
machine behind the wall, repaired and back out on
the track with-in 50- laps. Staying out of trouble,
Ron allowed the leaders to pass with no problems,
but costing a total of 9 laps.

What an awesome run for Team Conseco. Ron hit
Bristol with a first lap that would keep him in the
top 20 starting positions, but a 2nd lap speed of 123.451 mph
put Ron and the AJ Foyt Racing Pontiac in the 3rd
starting position in the sharpie 500.
"Hats off to
this Team Conseco crew, they have been doing an
awesome job and they are starting to read me
now."–Ron

“Of all the tracks we go to, Bristol ranks as one
of my favorite tracks. It’s fun, fast and
intense. I don’t think there is a driver,
Busch or Cup, that doesn’t like the Bristol night
race.” –Ron
Team Conseco will use chassis 1411 this weekend in
the Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Hornaday drove this car at Charlotte and at Atlanta
earlier this year.
Earlier this year, Hornaday started 40th and was
poised to finish in the top 10 when a late race pit
stop dropped him outside the top 20. Hornaday
battled back to finish 21st completing all 500 laps.
